The Advisor Services Technology team is responsible for managing the entirety of our digital products designed specifically for our Institutional and Independent Advisor clients. The Alerts & Status platform is an intuitive NIGO messaging solution fully integrated with Schwab Advisor Center in all the workflows like Move Money, Trading, Account Management, etc. to show real-time updates to advisors as well as coordinate if any additional information is required. We are looking for a Staff Engineer of Software Development to work in our dynamic and collegiate team.

  • Collaborate with AST team members in designing and developing technical solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable front end and back-end code.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
  • Collaborate with the team to design, develop, unit test, and support new features.
  • Proactively identify product/system enhancements which may improve tool appeal, process flow, and overall functionality and performance.
  • Lead development of maintenance and enhancement work items, including performance tuning, testing, refactoring, usability, and automation.
  • Champion/ensure adherence to coding, compliance, & security standards (including documenting functionality/recovery solutions).
  • 2+ years of full stack application development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited degree granting college or university is preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing applications, particularly web-enabled applications using Front End Technologies/Concepts: Angular and/or AngularJS, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, ASP.NET web forms, MVC, JSON/XML, Sync/Async services.
  • Back End Technologies/Concepts: C#, ASP.NET, SOAP and RESTful API design.
  • Database Technologies/Concepts: Relational (SQL/Oracle) and Document Based (No-SQL/MongoDB) Architectures.
  • Initial understanding in web application environments and development tools, event-driven application development, session state management, web configuration and deployment strategies, security, and performance tuning, and debugging methodologies.
  • Comfortable with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) concepts, unit testing principles and implementations, API test automation techniques as well as automated deployment pipeline tools.
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite is strongly preferred: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  • Have a passion for problem solving, the ability to quickly learn new concepts, and must be able to interact with all levels of technical and business teams.
