Place of Performance : Services shall be provided on site, VAMC 6439 Garners Ferry Rd Columbia SC 29209. Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm and on-call.

Requirements

  • Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property. All licenses held by the key personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
  • Shall be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
  • Shall be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.

Responsibilities

  • Providing Anesthesiology care
  • Providing clinical Anesthesiology services
  • Providing comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic and ophthalmologic operations
  • Providing clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites
  • Providing primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management
  • Providing consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory, and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic
  • Following all established medication policies and procedures
  • Providing discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Anesthesiology clinical or surgical patients
