Job Title: Anesthesiologist Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: San Francisco, CA Service Setting: Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (Float Pool) Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: 02/09/2026 – Ongoing (26+ weeks) Clinical Shift Schedule: Day shifts, generally 8–10 hours (7:00a – 5:00p); providers may work 4 or 5 days per week COVERAGE DATES Starting February 9, 2026 (ongoing, minimum 26 weeks) PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adolescents (13+) and Adults Patient Volume/Census: High -acuity inpatient and outpatient surgical volume Case Mix: Inpatient and outpatient surgical anesthesia; high -acuity cases (ASA 3+); general anesthesia with occasional regional anesthesia; no cardiac, liver, or neuro cases FACILITY INFORMATION Trauma Level: Level I and Level II exposure across sites EMR System: Epic Office Equipment Available: Standard anesthesia and OR equipment Specialty Backup Available: Full surgical and hospital support services Support Staff Available: CRNAs Reason for Coverage: Ongoing staffing support via anesthesia float pool PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60–90 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Parking: Not covered; providers are responsible for parking expenses Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES General anesthesia for inpatient and outpatient surgical cases Regional anesthesia (preferred, evaluated case by case) Solo anesthetic management in operating room settings JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active California medical license Board: Board Certified in Anesthesiology (Board Eligible may be considered if fellowship trained) DEA: Active CA DEA with Schedule II/II -N Certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA required) Experience: Minimum 2 years of anesthesiology experience; recent experience at tertiary care centers required Other Qualifications: Ability to work independently; willingness to float between inpatient and outpatient settings; recent mixed practice experience required (chronic pain -only backgrounds not applicable) DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide anesthesia services across multiple UCSF -affiliated hospital and ambulatory sites Deliver safe and effective anesthetic care for high -acuity inpatient and outpatient cases Work primarily solo in the operating room, with occasional supervision of CRNAs Adapt to variable case types and acuity levels within a float pool model Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Epic EMR system Collaborate with surgical teams, nursing staff, and anesthesia colleagues across sites
