About The Position

New Anesthesiologist opening with a growing group practice in New Bern, NC, supporting 350-bed CarolinaEast Medical Center Description CarolinaEast Medical Center, located in New Bern, NC, is an acute care hospital dedicated to meeting the community’s needs with high-level healthcare and up-to-date technology. The organization first began serving the coastal Carolina region in 1962. Dedicated to progress, the facility has since grown into a 350-bed hospital that now treats 390,000 cases annually while maintaining its strong tradition of a caring, personal approach. Awards Received the award for outstanding patient experience and was ranked in the top 15% nationwide by Healthgrades Case Assignments General anesthesia; neurosurgery; cardiac; orthopedic; vascular; obstetric; gynecologic; and ear, nose, and throat. Cardiac and/or TEE experience or training preferred. Regional experience is a must. Shifts 6:30am to between 3pm and 5pm with a waterfall schedule. Hospital based 4 days a week with 1 day at Surgery Center. Associated call is required but can be taken from home. Requirements

  • M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • ECFMG and FLEX
  • Completion of approved residency in anesthesia
  • Currently licensed as a physician

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac and/or TEE experience or training preferred.
  • Regional experience is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department
  • Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
  • Pre-anesthesia assessment
  • Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
  • Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
  • Performance of clinical intervention as needed
