We are seeking experienced Anesthesiologist Assistants to join our Multi-Specialty Anesthesiology Division at our Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. As an Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA) at Cleveland Clinic, you will work alongside a collaborative team of anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other professionals to deliver exceptional care across a wide range of high acuity surgical specialties. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in a hospital inpatient environment, preferably involving high-acuity cases, is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current, valid certificate of registration.
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in a hospital inpatient environment, preferably involving high-acuity cases, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery.
  • Monitors the patient's physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition.
  • Administers emergency measures when complications arise.
  • Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam.
  • Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia.
  • Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia.
  • Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.
