About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician Assistant for its Anesthesia/Analgesia Service. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for patient care by Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs)
  • Restrain various domestic, exotic, and large animals
  • Assist with premedication and induction of various species
  • Assist with recovery and monitoring of post-operative patients
  • Assist Veterinary Technicians and residents with case set-ups and clean-up
  • Monitor pre-operative and post-operative patients and report abnormal or concerning behavior
  • Maintain and stock pharmacy and controlled substances supplies
  • Clean and disinfect equipment as needed
  • Participate in record keeping and billing
  • Assist with routine laboratory tests and specimen collection according to established medical orders and care plans
  • Document and disseminate results to the appropriate entities
  • Serve as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions
  • Support clinicians and CVTs in the anesthesia service with requested tasks
  • Work on-call shifts as required by the service and the hospital
