About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician’s primary responsibility is to maintain all anesthesia service areas in readiness for use by Anesthesiologists and Anesthetists. The service areas include all operating rooms in the main OR and Cysto. Additional service areas include (if applicable), but are not limited to OB, Radiology, MRI, all pre-op and PACU facilities. Responsible for anesthesia equipment and supplies as described in this job description and is accountable to the Manager of Anesthesia Support Services or OR manager. Must be able to work with the preceptor and be able to make decisions and set priorities with guidance. Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable infection control, health, and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit and UCSF Health. Additionally, adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including telephone and house standards is required. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary for this position is $47.27 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • High School diploma; or equivalent experience
  • Basic mathematical skills to quickly and accurately add, subtract, divide, and multiply whole numbers and decimals manually or using a calculator
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
  • Ability to be clearly understood; ble to hear and comprehend at normal conversational levels (legal issue)
  • Ability to see well and read in dim light
  • Ability to distinguish colors on the anesthesia monitors
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate small equipment including, but not limited to, twisting bulbs, turning dials, changing batteries, and pushing buttons; able to move in confined spaces; able to repetitively lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
  • Less than one year experience
