About The Position

Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Anesthesia Technician to join us in our new UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center. The UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center will provide daytime surgical procedures to the community of patients that meet developed criteria. The department features five operating room surgical unit with supporting pre-operative, post-operative, and sterile processing departments. The new Outpatient Surgery Center on the Harborview Campus is located on the 4th floor of Ninth and Jefferson Building (NJB) and opened in January 2026 to patients. The Surgery Center features 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday with no holidays, weekends, or night hours. The Center offers same-day surgery procedures utilizing state-of–the-art equipment to our community of patients that meet the necessary criteria. This reflects the Center’s innovative, patient-centered culture, supporting ongoing operational efficiencies and quality improvements. The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member. The unit will provide a soothing environment with natural lighting and patient privacy. Requirements

  • Associate of Arts Degree in Biomedical Electronics; OR two years of post-secondary education/training with emphasis in the sciences and one year of work experience in electronics service, maintenance and repair; OR two years of experience as an Anesthesiology Technician I, Paramedic, Laboratory Technician, or equivalent.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Nice To Haves

  • ASATT certification as an Anesthesia Technician and 3 years' experience with complex surgeries; trauma experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, supplies, and equipment for each individual Anesthesia procedure.
  • Assist in the positioning, prepping, and draping of patients for surgical procedures.
  • Check all equipment/instruments needed prior to each procedure, to ensure proper functioning.
  • Follow aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures.
  • Perform services requiring technical or manual skills, under the direction of Attending Anesthesiologist.
  • Clean and prepare rooms between procedures and after last case; restock supplies, when necessary, and organize effectively for end-of-case cleanup. Be fully responsible for care of instruments/equipment during intra/postoperative phase, including cleaning of equipment.
