About The Position

UPMC Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time Flex Anesthesia Technician to support our growing case volume at the CHP North Campus Surgery Center. This position is scheduled for Monday–Thursday daylight shifts, offering an excellent work-life balance with no nights or weekends. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical experience, with anesthesia technician experience preferred. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting anesthesia providers and ensuring efficient, high-quality perioperative care across a dynamic surgical environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of anesthesia, emergency/medical or related experience required or Graduate from an accredited Anesthesia Tech school or program required
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage anesthesia supplies, drugs, and inventory; stock carts and surgical suites per par levels.
  • Transport, set up, test, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment, including gas machines and specialty devices.
  • Support on-site and off-site anesthesia cases; assist with room turnovers to minimize downtime.
  • Assist anesthesia providers with patient preparation, IVs, invasive lines, airway management, and specialty procedures.
  • Disassemble, decontaminate, sterilize equipment, and report equipment issues.
  • Operate Blood Cell Saver and perform approved point-of-care testing.
  • Deliver lab samples, retrieve blood products, and support perioperative care.
  • Communicate effectively with OR and anesthesia staff; maintain accessibility and accurate records.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and fully stocked.
