About The Position

Nursing Coordinator will perform as the Anesthesia Technician (CAT) assists licensed anesthesia providers in the preparation, maintenance and must have a thorough knowledge of the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors, and ancillary devices. They assist in the acquisition, preparation, assembly, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. Demonstrates practical knowledge and expertise in all areas of anesthesia. The anesthesia technician is knowledgeable of all guidelines, policies, and safety requirements as determined by all relevant regulatory and standards setting agencies and organizations. Possessing an understanding of anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care. Performing effectively in the areas where anesthesia is provided, assist the licensed anesthesia provider with patient assessments, evaluations, transport, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management. Takes emergency call as assigned by department head. Works assigned shifts but may be asked to work beyond the regular tour of duty as assigned by department head or nursing supervisor.

Requirements

  • ASATT certification (Certified Anesthesia Technician) required.
  • A minimum of as an anesthesia technician and high school diploma or GED required
  • Purpose, use and care of physiological monitors relating to the administration of anesthesia
  • Reliability, ability to adapt to a variety of specialized anesthesia equipment, flexibility in working with various medical professionals.
  • Primary work schedule will vary according to staffing and Anesthesia Schedule needs
  • Effective oral and written communications skills in the English language
  • Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment
  • Current BLS from American Heart Association
  • Current Certification as Certified Anesthesia Technician from ASATT preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an approved Anesthesia Technician program and two (2) years of experience.
  • Current Certification as Certified Anesthesia Technician from ASATT preferred
