Schedule: 20 hours/week, rotating schedule As an Anesthesia Tech for our OR Team, you will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • High school Diploma required
  • Experience required
  • At least two years of work experience in a direct patient care capacity or in central materials services sterilizing equipment
  • Required: Basic computer skills (basic hardware and software knowledge)
  • LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Basic Life Support
  • Beth Israel Lahey Health requires that all staff be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Experience in a clinical position in an operating room environment
  • Preferred: Basic knowledge of electronics, able to maintain and troubleshoot Anesthesia Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures, as directed, by obtaining, arranging, and setting up supplies and equipment to be utilized by anesthesia during surgical procedures.
  • Ensures required supplies, medications, instruments and equipment are available and sterile for use in case.
  • Opens sterile supplies according to aseptic technique.
  • Prepares sterile field
  • Dons appropriate surgical attire according to the organization’s policy.
  • Minimizes preventable harm events and consistently executes the infection control protocols.
  • Assists with procedures and safe medication practices under the supervision and delegation of the anesthesia department by:
  • Positioning the patient and retracting tissue and other bodily parts as directed.
  • Drawing up and administering medications as directed by an anesthesiologist.
  • Participating in procedures such as nerve blocks and endotracheal intubations.
  • May assist the post-anesthesia care unit with patient care issues related to anesthesia.
