About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician position at Parkland Health and Hospital System is a permanent role focused on preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies for operative procedures. The technician ensures that all necessary equipment is functional and available, supports the anesthesia care team during procedures, and maintains infection control standards. This role requires effective communication with patients and staff, as well as the ability to lift and manage heavy equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire from an approved provider (American Heart Association, American Red Cross Rescuer, or Military Training Network).
• Knowledge of principles and policies concerning anesthesia procedures.
• Ability to operate all anesthesia equipment and recognize equipment malfunction.
• Ability to read written directions and write legibly.
• Effective communication skills with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Ability to lift, carry, and push heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the assigned anesthetizing locations to ensure that all necessary equipment is available and fully functional and that all anesthesia supplies and disposable items are fully stocked in accordance with prescribed par levels.
• Maintains infection control standards through application of universal precautions, decontamination of surfaces, cleaning and sterilization of appropriate equipment and supplies.
• Assists the anesthesia provider with airway management, placement and securing of invasive and noninvasive monitors, patient positioning, troubleshooting anesthesia equipment, and patient monitoring.
• Maintains the readiness of all anesthesia equipment and documents required maintenance and calibration of point-of-care monitors.
• Assists in training and providing work leadership to new employees, students, and other departmental trainees.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with job-related contacts and acts as a resource person for anesthesia technical support questions.
