About The Position

At NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, we’re redefining the possibilities in surgical care. We are currently seeking an Anesthesia Technician to join our world-renowned team. In this position, you will assemble, clean and maintain anesthesiology equipment and supplies. Your work area will include four amazing new operating rooms, each featuring video-conference networking for an optimal learning and treatment environment. Two suites include Siemens’ new Artis Zeego robotic c-arm scanners, a revolutionary new tool in surgical care found at only four hospitals nationwide. In this advanced environment, you’ll help maintain our commitment to safe, effective and compassionate care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical training or experience with equipment including knowledge on the operation of sterilizers and sterility techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • ASATT certification.
  • One year OR experience.
  • One year experience as an Anesthesia Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles and reassembles equipment for replacement of parts during repair of the equipment and for the daily preventative maintenance audits.
  • Advises supervisor when major repairs are required.
  • Calibrates telethermometer, check and clean ventilators.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment between cases requiring knowledge of sterility concept and cleaning procedures and knowledge of equipment functions.
  • Cleans debris, replaces soda lime granules, clear inhalation and exhalation parts, and checks blood pressure cuffs for leaks, and replaces batteries.
  • Ensures machines contain a complete breathing circuit.
  • Assembles equipment for each case in the operating room area.
  • Operates equipment per established procedure.
  • Restocks equipment and supplies for all anesthetizing areas, which include the Operating Rooms, Cystol/ESWL, Labor & delivery, the Recovery Room, and various procedure rooms.
  • Interprets the operating room schedule to predict equipment needs and determine if requests exceed supply.
  • Advises supervisor when demand for limited equipment exceeds supply.
  • Conducts weekly inventory of supplies maintained by the department those ordered from outside vendors, general stores, central sterile, and the pharmacy.
  • Maintains complete stock of drugs and medical supplies.
  • Sterilizes anesthesia supplies such as masks, tubes and connectors.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
