About The Position

The position is a full-time role at Advocate Health's Surgery Center, requiring 40 hours of work per week, typically from 0600 until procedures are completed. The role involves weekly rounding between four Surgery Centers located in Germantown, Greenfield, Mequon, and Wauwatosa, with a home base at the Greenfield Surgery Center. Personal transportation is necessary for this position.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in anesthesia-related monitoring within a hospital setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Previous experience working effectively with Physicians.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously, with sound decision-making and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and negotiation skills.

  • Certification Addendum: Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a resource and role model to employees, including training/orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance.
  • Assists with human resource responsibilities, including interviewing and selection of new employees, staff development, providing performance feedback, and resolution of employee concerns.
  • Interprets department policies and procedures, advising and updating staff on procedural changes.
  • Identifies performance improvement opportunities within the department and facilitates change.
  • Provides input on all phases of anesthesia delivery, working procedures, quality assurance, and process improvement.
  • Remains current in anesthesia services management concepts, clinical knowledge, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Sets up monitoring equipment in the operating room and moves anesthesia equipment to the proper surgical suite.
  • Provides general assistance to the Anesthesiologist and other technicians during surgical procedures.
  • Transfers patients to and from the operating room and collects all data sheets.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling.
