At Franciscan Health, our Anesthesia Technician ensures the safe functioning of anesthesia machines through daily checking and calibrating, monitoring the equipment and supply of drugs, instruments and other items needed in the anesthetic management of patients. This position inventories supplies and equipment, as necessary, for the maintenance of a properly supplied surgery area, and works closely with supply managers. The Anesthesia Technician participates in quality assessment/improvement initiatives, and functions as an active participant of the anesthesia team in the planning of the technical support for acceptable medical and physiological monitoring. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Coordinate the repair of anesthesia equipment; follow the appropriate guidelines for sending equipment out for repair, troubleshoot problems relating to the availability or working condition of equipment. Maintain adequate inventory level of anesthesia supplies, increasing or decreasing supply levels, as warranted by usage; initiate purchase requisitions, receive and inspect orders of supplies, and stock the anesthesia workstations. Maintain anesthesia monitors and machines, and clean anesthesia carts, machines, and monitors, per protocol; set up and calibrate various physiological monitors to be used during surgery including connecting monitoring lines and preparation of infusion sets. Organize and manage the general functioning of the anesthesia workroom, which includes overseeing and performing the sterilization of products, according to the CDC.
