About The Position

You will have the ability to work with physicians who are constantly pushing the bounds of possibility forward, conducting groundbreaking research, and providing lifesaving, personalized patient care. This position is 100% onsite opportunity . You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting the anesthesia machines, monitors, and ancillary devices. In this role, the Anesthesia Technician will support routine surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems, before and during anesthesia. You are responsible for the maintenance of supplies and equipment in clinical settings such as the surgical suite, trauma suites, pediatrics, obstetrics suite, radiology, PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, MRI, ER, GU, dental suites, ambulatory surgery, animal and research laboratories. The Certified Anesthesia Technician has practical knowledge and expertise in all general areas of anesthesia.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or relevant operating room experience
  • AHA BLS upon hire or within first month of hire

  • Successful completion of certification examination requirements established by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots anesthesia machines, monitors, and ancillary devices.
  • Assists the anesthesia provider with patient transport, positioning, and insertion of intravenous/ invasive lines, acquisition of medications, and routine/ difficult intubations and extubations.
  • Responsible for repairs, maintenance, and fabrication of anesthesia equipment in the GOR, DCAM operating rooms, and Labor and Delivery suites.
  • Responsible for ordering, acquisition, and distribution of anesthesia and supplies in GOR, DCAM O.R.s, Comer Children's O.R.s, and Labor & Delivery Suites.
  • Organizes support spaces, restocks O.R.’s and work areas, and provides supply and set-up assistance for practitioners.
  • Understands, correctly uses, and trains Anesthesia Technicians on the various aseptic techniques used for routine cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing of all reusable equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
  • May perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) as needed.
