About The Position

Hartford Hospital, one of its largest and most respected teaching hospitals in New England, is a Level 1 Trauma Center providing cutting-edge treatment, including the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI). The Anesthesia Technician II coordinates and manages activities related to the anesthesia department. This role involves maintaining anesthesia machines and equipment, setting up operating rooms with required anesthesia and physiologic monitoring equipment for surgical and obstetric suites, and removing, cleaning, and restocking equipment and supplies after procedures. The position also provides assistance to central supply as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • CPR Certification
  • Employee must be able to cover all specialty areas where anesthesia is administered
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills, understanding by responding appropriately to emergencies
  • Critical creative thinking, planning, problem solving, and decision making are all responsibilities in this position
  • Prioritizing responsibilities throughout the shift

Nice To Haves

  • Operating Room experience would be helpful to this position, such as a clinical technician, PCA, CNA, Pharmacy Tech, or any related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with turnover changing and wiping down anesthesia machine and cart also any equipment that might be in the room. This includes anesthesia circuit, suction tubing, and EKG leads.
  • Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment
  • Set up any special equipment that might be needed for the case
  • Performing the leak test on the anesthesia machine
  • Assist with setting up the Belmont, and or Level One rapid infuser
  • Provide support to the Anesthesia provider during emergency trauma cases, or called upon as needed
