About The Position

Stamford Health is looking for a full-time Anesthesia Tech to support our OR team! This is a full-time position. M-F 11am-7pm. Call, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in a clinical hospital setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills required
  • Minimum of one year experience as an Anesthesia Tech, Anesthesia Technician Certification (ASATT) highly preferred
  • Active BLS required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, physicians, and other health care workers.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

  • Anesthesia Technician Certification (ASATT) highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains stock of non-controlled drugs, supplies and equipment necessary for anesthetizing patients
  • Assists anesthesiologist with special needs for cases and trouble shoots equipment problems.
  • Conducts routine and periodic maintenance of equipment and reports defective equipment to Biomed and Chief of Anesthesia.
  • Assists with patient preparation, transporting, positioning and induction of anesthesia
  • Checks, cleans, and restocks all supplies on anesthesia carts in all OR rooms and OB C-section rooms
  • Organize and manage functioning of the anesthesia workroom.
  • Calibrates, maintains, and operates a wide range of specialized technical equipment.
  • Prepares anesthesia machine, equipment and supplies for surgery.
  • Using aseptic technique, prepares IV lines, arterial lines, central venous pressure lines, and opens trays under the direction of the attending anesthesiologist.
  • Maintains oxygen and nitrous oxide tanks on anesthesia machines
  • Checks soda lime contents and changes when necessary
  • Maintains orderly, neat and clean anesthesia supply room and equipment room.
  • Has basic knowledge in the care of various anesthesia equipment and supplies used in the OR
  • Follows instructions for use of disinfections and cleaning solution
  • Seeks assistance when presented with new instrumentation and equipment
  • Functions within limits specified by job description and policies and procedures of Stamford Hospital
  • Demonstrates reliable performance and judgment during emergency situations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
  • Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements.
