POSITION SUMMARY: An Anesthesia tech as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures. A Licensed Vocational Nurse functions under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Plans and individualizes patient care. Provides technical and clinical support to Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists by ensuring availability and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment and supplies. The anesthesia technician will prepare anesthesia supplies and equipment to assist with the placement of invasive catheters. Will prepare and assist anesthesia provider for patient airway induction and intubation and transport under the direction of the Anesthesiologist, CRNA and/or RN. Support patient care for the population served. Will clean, sterilize, disinfect routine anesthesia equipment. Maintain inventory levels of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including anesthesia carts, emergency airway carts, and the anesthesia supply areas. May be necessary to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on call/call back status. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to anesthesia technician activities.
