Under the general supervision of the Chief of Anesthesiology and/or Surgery Director, the Anesthesia Technician maintains equipment and supplies in a state of readiness as outlined by the Chief of Anesthesiology and assists Anesthesia providers as defined. The Anesthesia Technician must use sound judgment and diplomacy as the first interface of services related to patient care and unit personnel. The individual in this position will interface daily with patients, physicians, nursing staff, and technologists to ensure quality services and continuum of care. The individual must demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude and remain productive under stress. For some departments, the Anesthesia Technician may be responsible for operating the nurse call system, using the phone system (placing telephone calls and paging). May be responsible for operating office equipment (copiers, fax, computer, and paging).
