About The Position

Piper Companies is seeking an Android Reverse Engineer to support a leading Global Security Software Company. The Android Reverse Engineer will conduct and assist with reverse engineering, security assessments, and code reviews. The primary goal of this work is to develop static and dynamic signatures for mobile code that detects application user threats, including malware and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). This position requires the candidate to be willing to relocate to Austin and work onsite three days per week, ensuring close collaboration with the team and access to necessary resources for effective performance. In this role, the Android Reverse Engineer will be responsible for reviewing applications and SDKs to detect threats and reverse engineer software. The candidate will utilize various tools such as Jadx, Ghidra, Frida, IDA Pro, and Burp to perform binary and APK/SDK analysis. Additionally, the role involves conducting code reviews to identify security policy violations, vulnerabilities, or improper coding practices. A strong understanding of mobile software languages, particularly Java, Kotlin, and JavaScript, is essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of hands-on development and reverse engineering experience, along with an in-depth understanding of IoT devices or Android internals. Familiarity with techniques utilized by malicious software to tamper with user devices, as well as knowledge of mobile phone security topics and mobile app store policies, will be crucial for effectively addressing the challenges presented in this role.
