About the Role We are hiring an Android Engineers to join our mobile platform engineering group. This team focuses on improving the developer experience and the tools, processes, and systems that power our Android codebase. Platform engineers at Fetch operate as an extension of the mobile guild. You will work directly with the 40-plus Android developers who build the app, helping them ship high quality features with confidence. You will work inside the shared Android codebase to abstract complexity, create reliable and opinionated APIs, and improve the core systems that developers use every day. Your work will strengthen architecture, simplify feature development, and ensure consistency across the app. This role work closely with developers across mobile, backend, platform, and DevOps teams. You will evaluate new tools, introduce enhancements to our SDLC, and drive adoption through technical documentation, training, and hands-on collaboration. You will be working within a modern, 200-plus module Android architecture built with Kotlin 2.x, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Hilt, Room, KSP, and Gradle convention plugins. Our CI pipelines run on Bitrise with optimized caching and fast test runtimes.

Requirements

4+ years of experience developing and releasing Android applications within a medium to large team
Strong command of Android fundamentals and core technologies including Kotlin, Compose, Coroutines, and Jetpack libraries
Understanding of lower level Android tooling including Gradle, KSP, and build systems
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to navigate complex systems
Proven debugging skills and a commitment to high quality code
Effective written and verbal communication with experience driving alignment across teams
Understanding of tradeoffs in automation, quality gates, and shared library design
Collaborative team mindset with proven experience in team-based development
High degree of ownership and comfort operating in ambiguous technical spaces
An AI forward mindset with a willingness to explore new tools that improve engineering efficiency

Nice To Haves

Experience in platform engineering or DevEx focused roles
Generalist engineering background across backend or cross-platform areas
Engagement in open source or developer community contributions

Responsibilities

Improve the Android developer experience as part of the mobile platform group
Build and maintain tools, libraries, and shared systems that support the SDLC
Strengthen shared architecture components and core systems
Monitor and improve key metrics that drive adoption, reliability, and faster feedback
Partner with developers to gather feedback and deliver solutions that remove friction
Roll out new tools and processes with clear communication, documentation, and training
Influence technical decisions across domains through strong engineering judgment
Evaluate emerging tools and technologies to integrate the best solutions into our workflows
