About The Position

The basic function of a clinical neuropsychology fellow is to provide clinical neuropsychological services to children and families. Neuropsychology fellows perform all of the duties listed below with supervision by a licensed clinical Neuropsychologist. The Neuropsychologist possesses advanced knowledge and experience with patient populations that include infants, children, and adolescents with developmental disorders affecting behavior and cognition, genetic syndromes affecting development, and all types of acquired conditions that affect brain function. The Neuropsychologist provides support to department and organization objectives by providing unique expertise and clinical service that is exclusive to the discipline of Neuropsychology. Further, the Neuropsychologist provides support to the physicians and clinics within CMC by providing clinical care and intervention of CMC patients.

Requirements

  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required.
  • Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in psychology, within 30 days of start date, with clinical training at the graduate and internship level with attestation of completion provided by program director or diploma required.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 60 Days, required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Neuropsychological assessment for patients and their families, including comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, scoring of data, writing reports, and providing feedback to patients and families.
  • Attend regularly scheduled research meetings to report on progress of various projects; review relevant literature; brainstorm project ideas; perform data collection; complete IRB paperwork; write abstracts, articles and book chapters; create posters and presentations for research meetings/conferences; and attend conferences/research meetings, and grant writing.
  • Provide feedback/consultations for patients and families; review the results of a child's neuropsychological evaluation thoroughly with parents and patients; and consult with potential patients and their families to determine if neuropsychological services are appropriate.
  • Attend various classes, workshops, and presentations to keep licensure current and maintain the requisite amount of continuing education credits; stay current in the field and keep up with new developments to provide the best possible service to children and their families.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary Neuro-Oncology rounds; identify which patients on the Neuro-Oncology service would benefit from Neuropsychological services; and perform other duties and special projects as required.
