About The Position

The Ground Handling - Classroom & OJT Trainer at Swissport is responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs, including classroom instruction and on-the-job training, to ensure employees meet company and customer service standards. This role also involves evaluating employee performance, maintaining compliance with operational functions, and acting as an interim supervisor for new hires until they are fully trained and certified.

Requirements

  • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Minimum 1 year of industry experience in airline Ground Handling operations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in resolving complex problems and maintaining positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% throughout the United States and Canada.
  • Ability to pass security clearance and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence without authority.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts to accommodate training demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning processes, instructional design techniques, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Ability to create and deliver dynamic presentations and training materials.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver detailed training in various formats such as instructor-led and virtual training, e-learning, and self-directed training.
  • Oversee practical Ground Handling Classroom & OJT, including final assessments and sign-offs.
  • Follow Swissport Corporate and NOAM Training Policy and Procedures, operating equipment according to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Monitor and promote best practices across the station.
  • Implement internal quality assurance activities, including operational audits.
  • Continuously assess training to ensure staff competence and confidence in their duties.
  • Maintain compliance levels across the station.
  • Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure training relevance.
  • Act as a role model, displaying best practice behavior and procedures.
  • Provide objective feedback and coaching to improve performance and behavior of others.
  • Report all training activity through recognized methods for accurate tracking of training data.
  • Support nearby stations as needed.
  • Forecast and plan for new hire and recurrent training needs, coordinating with Regional Training Managers, local HR, and Operations teams.
  • Deliver and facilitate initial and recurrent training in accordance with global and local standards.
  • Administer required examinations and reports for training programs to maintain compliance.
  • Assist with New Hire tracking to ensure a smooth transition to operations.
  • Assist with on-the-job coaching programs and serve as tier one support for local certified coaches.
  • Maintain currency in the operation.
