About The Position

The Anatomy Laboratory Technician at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting educational, clinical, and research activities within the anatomy laboratory. This position requires expertise in surgical and procedural knowledge to provide necessary equipment and instrumentation for various educational and research initiatives. The technician will handle cadaveric and animal tissues, maintain laboratory environments, and ensure compliance with safety protocols while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED with five years of experience in surgery within a hospital or clinical setting, OR
• Associate degree in life science or healthcare with three years of experience in surgery, OR
• Bachelor's degree in life science or healthcare with one year of experience in surgery.
• Demonstrated proficiency in operating room techniques and instrumentation.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with animal procedures is preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technician or Veterinary Technician license with surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reports to and receives direction from campus leadership.
• Collaborates with physicians, scientists, allied health staff, and external visitors.
• Utilizes surgical and procedural knowledge to provide expert professional services.
• Prepares the laboratory environment and operates equipment for educational and research activities.
• Handles cadaveric and animal tissues as required.
• Communicates policies, procedures, and expectations to staff and visitors.
• Assists with data collection and management.
• Disposes of hazardous waste according to policy/protocol.
• Supports surgical procedures and related activities as assigned.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and resets the laboratory following activities.
