The Anatomic Pathology Technician is responsible for the processing and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. Responsible for verification of proper patient and specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders. Responsible for accurate registration of specimens. Ability to process non-gynecological and gynecological specimens for microscopic review and prepare tissue specimens for examination and diagnosis. Prepares frozen sections for the Pathologist and assists with renal biopsies and fine needle aspirate procedures. Organizes laboratory work flow and prioritizes processing and distribution of specimens. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test request, accession, label and deliver specimens appropriately. Performs and documents routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoots as needed.
