About The Position

Specializes in the diagnosis and study of diseases by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. Responsible for identifying abnormalities that aid in disease diagnosis and treatment management. This role works independently, under direct and indirect supervision, and performs technical and clerical tasks necessary for the efficient functioning of the laboratory and morgue.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
• Experience within Anatomic Pathology lab 0-1 year preferred
• Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools and procedures specific to assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict.
• Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.

Responsibilities

• Examines tissues and cells to diagnose diseases and conditions.
• Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss diagnoses and treatment options.
• Provides expert advice and consultation regarding test results and treatment options.
• Assists with laboratory maintenance, including cleaning, restocking, and specimen disposal.
• Performs autopsy service duties, including ensuring procedures are followed in the autopsy suite and morgue, verifying patient identity, and assisting with external examinations.
• Accurately triages and accessions all specimens.
