About The Position

This is a Histology Lab Assistant/Digital Pathology Technician position that encompasses a variety of histology responsibilities. Duties may include, but are not limited to processor maintenance, stainer maintenance, block filing, block verification, case assembly, and management of digital scanner workflows. Previous lab experience desired but not necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Technical ability and interest.
  • Computer and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively.

  • Laboratory experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Assures accurate and timely performance of specimen processing and QA procedures according to departmental policy.
  • Assures completeness and accuracy of registration data.
  • Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
  • Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education.
  • Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
  • Protects self, coworkers, and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
  • Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals, and standards of laboratory testing.
