The Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) is responsible for the research and development of applied solutions for BlackRock. This group is part of the Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) division which contributes more generally to the production of analytics and models to portfolio and risk management professionals both within and outside BlackRock. Given the diversity of business objectives within BlackRock and across the external Aladdin client community, the models developed and supported by AFE span a wide array of financial products (equities, fixed income, commodities, derivatives, and private markets). PAG Private Financing Analytics (PFA) is looking to hire a highly motivated Associate in New York. The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders in private markets business and drive the deployment of advanced analytical solutions to complement the Aladdin suite of products. The candidate would have a strong understanding of fixed income analytics within private markets, comprehensive knowledge of investment processes and ability to communicate effectively to drive impactful outcomes. Join a diverse and collaborative team of over 300 modelers and technologists in Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE), the business responsible for the research and development of Aladdin's financial models. This group is also accountable for analytics production, enhancing the infrastructure platform and delivering analytics content to portfolio and risk management professionals (both within BlackRock and across the Aladdin client community). The models developed and supported by AFE span a wide array of financial products covering equities, fixed income, commodities, derivatives, and private markets. AFE provides investment insights that range from an analysis of cash flows on a single bond, to the overall financial risk associated with an entire portfolio, balance sheet, or enterprise

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with financial modeling techniques with proven experience in using technology to deliver analytical solutions
  • Experience and proven success in leading cross-functional, technical projects
  • Strong Python programming skills - including working knowledge of analytical libraries and of complex codebase
  • Proficiency with software development process tools such as ADO, GIT etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with portfolio managers, department heads and Aladdin Engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively on all aspects of the team's impact to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Team player with the ability to foster connectivity across regional offices and teams
  • High degree of adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and professional maturity to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Proven ability to deliver high-quality output under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with senior portfolio managers and investment leaders to build a roadmap of strategic initiatives and deliverables
  • Build innovative solutions for analysis of investment process, portfolio construction and relative value
  • Build a strong understanding of Aladdin analytical capabilities
  • Build partnerships with other quantitative researchers across AFE and Engineering teams
  • Encourage dialogue/communication around private market analytics and market movements in relation to business needs
  • Communicate analysis and solution outputs clearly through meetings and presentations
