We’re looking for an Analytics Engineer to join Freshpaint’s Product Data team and play a pivotal role in scaling our data platform, improving engineering capacity, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the company. This role reports directly into Product and will work closely with Engineering, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market teams. As an Analytics Engineer, you’ll help build and optimize the data foundation that powers our product strategy and customer growth. You will ensure that Freshpaint’s data is reliable, accessible, and actionable - enabling teams across the company to make faster, smarter decisions. Your work will directly impact customer trust, reduce ad hoc burdens on engineers, and accelerate product-led growth opportunities.

  • Define and implement key product north star metrics and supporting dashboards.
  • Build, model, and maintain analytics-ready datasets (primarily in dbt) to support product, engineering, and customer-facing teams.
  • Establish data governance practices that make data definitions and usage clear to stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineers to design instrumentation for new product features and ensure reliable event data collection.
  • Develop anomaly detection tools and repeatable querying frameworks to build customer trust in Freshpaint’s product data.
  • Translate complex datasets into simple, actionable insights for cross-functional teams, enabling strategic decision-making.
  • Expand Freshpaint’s analytics warehouse with new data sources and scalable pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success to identify customer journeys, risks, and expansion signals through data.
  • 5+ years of experience working in business intelligence, analytics engineering, data engineering or a similar role.
  • 2+ years of data modeling experience in dbt and building analytics-ready datasets that scale.
  • Expert-level SQL skills; you’ve worked across multiple product areas to wrangle complex datasets.
  • Proven experience introducing a data governance framework, ensuring clarity and consistency of metrics.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, making data insights understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solid business acumen, with the ability to link data models directly to business strategy, product growth, and market context.
  • An iterative mentality; you know when 'close enough' is sufficient for business impact, while safeguarding against harmful inaccuracies.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute broadly, especially in a small but growing data team.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and version control best practices.
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience applying basic data science and statistical methods.
  • Hands-on expertise with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Experience training colleagues in analytics best practices and fostering a data-driven culture.
