The Analytics Engineer plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely, and trusted reporting and analytics across Finance, Risk, Claims, Operations, and Executive teams. This role operates at the intersection of data engineering and business analytics—translating complex business questions into trusted, production-grade reporting solutions while actively contributing to the organization’s migration from legacy SQL Server tooling to a modern, cloud-native analytics stack anchored in Snowflake. You will design, build, and support SSRS reports, Power BI dashboards, SQL-based data models, and SSIS packages that enable reporting workflows. You will serve as a peer to the Data Engineering function—not a consumer of it—and are expected to challenge data quality issues at the source, define metric logic the business can rely on, and deliver analytics that do not require a follow-up explanation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 4+ years in Business Intelligence, analytics engineering, or data-intensive reporting roles.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL across SQL Server (T‑SQL) and Snowflake, including query optimization, window functions, and data modeling/schema design.
  • Hands‑on experience developing, publishing, and maintaining Power BI reports and datasets, including strong DAX development and semantic model design.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting SSIS packages in a production reporting environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent reporting deliverables across diverse business stakeholders while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and reliability.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, data validation, and reconciliation in environments with material financial or regulatory risk.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred background in insurance, F&I, automotive, claims, or similarly regulated or financially sensitive industries where reporting accuracy is critical.
  • Experience supporting Finance, Claims, or other regulated business functions where data accuracy has direct financial, compliance, or audit implications.
  • Exposure to financial close processes, regulatory reporting, or external audit support, including documented and traceable data lineage.
  • Working Knowledge of Snowflake features such as clustering keys, materialized views, dynamic data masking, and cost/ performance monitoring preferred.
  • Exposure to analytics modernization initiatives, automation, or RPA in support of scalable, repeatable reporting solutions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, create and enhance existing SSRS reports as part of ongoing legacy support, with an active role in migrating high-value SSRS content to Power BI.
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models supporting Finance, Claims, Operations, and Executive reporting requirements.
  • Write DAX measures and calculated columns that implement agreed-upon business logic; document metric definitions so they are not dependent on tribal knowledge.
  • Translate business reporting requirements into scalable Power BI solutions, including incremental refresh strategies, row-level security, and workspace/deployment pipeline governance.
  • Support UAT cycles, partner-facing reporting validation, and audit reviews by verifying report output against source data and defined calculation logic.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL across SQL Server and Snowflake, including CTEs, window functions, and query performance tuning against large claims and financial datasets.
  • Develop and maintain semantic models in Power BI or Snowflake that enforce consistent metric definitions across reports and teams.
  • Implement financial and claims business logic transformations at the data model layer so that report logic is not duplicated across individual reports.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across environments by tracing issues back to source system ingestion, transformation logic, or pipeline failures.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance SSIS packages and data pipelines that move data between source systems, SQL Server, and Snowflake to support reporting workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures that impact reporting delivery; implement alerting and logging so failures are detected before stakeholders are affected.
  • Maintain and improve existing SSIS processes as part of ongoing reporting evolution.
  • Partner directly with Finance, Claims, Operations, and Risk teams to scope reporting requirements, validate output accuracy, and resolve metric disagreements before they reach production.
  • Work alongside Data Engineering to align data availability, schema changes, and pipeline dependencies that affect downstream reporting; flag upstream data quality issues when discovered.
  • Maintain a data dictionary and report documentation that allows any team member or auditor to verify what a report measures, how it is calculated, and where the data originates.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
