Analytics Engineer
About The Position
We’re transitioning from limited data access and ad hoc code to a modern, scalable data stack. This role will be instrumental in designing and rolling out foundational processes that support clean, documented, and reproducible analytics workflows. You’ll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure our infrastructure supports fast, reliable insights. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or analytical field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science).
- 3+ years of experience writing SQL; data modeling experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and code review workflows.
- Experience with dbt or similar transformation tools.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Comfortable leading process change and training peers.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
Nice To Haves
- Bonus: Experience with Python, data catalogs, or data in the financial/nonprofit sectors.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement technical standards for SQL style conventions, version control (e.g., Git), code reviews, and documentation practices.
- Build and maintain reusable data models and pipelines using tools like dbt, SQL, and cloud data warehouses.
- Establish and document best practices for data access, transformation, and testing.
- Lead the rollout of new processes across the team, including onboarding materials, training sessions, and feedback loops.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between data infrastructure and business needs.
- Monitor and improve data reliability and performance, including observability and alerting.
- Document data workflows, definitions, and lineage to support transparency and data governance.
- Stay current with best practices and emerging tools to continuously improve our analytics environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
