About The Position

We are looking for PhD level students majoring in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline for a 12-week internship role in New Haven, CT from May 18th to August 7th. Position Duties: Delve into established techniques for identifying and quantifying host cell proteins (HCPs), which are impurities related to the manufacturing process. Acquire practical skills in liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and work closely with Alexion’s scientific team to refine existing methods and enhance process efficiency. Document study results in notebooks, forms, and technical reports, and communicate and present scientific findings in the Analytical Development and Quality Control group.

Requirements

  • PhD level students majoring Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
  • Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2026.
  • Understanding/coursework in the fundamentals of biology and/or chemistry required.
  • Ability/desire to learn new techniques required.
  • Ability to work in a lab environment and conduct assigned routine tasks in the laboratory with supervision required.
  • Ability to report onsite to New Haven, CT 4-5 days per week.
  • US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
  • This role will not be providing OPT support.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous knowledge and understanding of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry technology preferred.
  • Some computer skills and basic Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor and coworkers, prioritize assigned tasks, take ownership and draft technical documents with templates preferred.
