About The Position

The Analytical Chemist I is responsible for completing physical tests on raw materials and work-in-process samples, at a client’s manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or closely-related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
  • Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical testing of raw materials using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications appropriate to the sample.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment as required
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and restock reagents and consumables
  • Support Quality and continuous improvement projects for facility
  • Understand and adhere to standards for appropriate test methods and SOP’s.
  • Prepare a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications.
  • Perform any required quality and safety checks on samples submitted prior to testing.
  • Performs testing in coordination with clients, coworkers, and supervision from management
  • Escalates troubleshooting to client as soon as possible
  • Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed in a timely manner
  • Report safety, instrument and technical issues to the appropriate contacts.
  • Prepare a variety of equipment for testing using prescribed standards / specifications
  • Maintain supplies, lab cleanliness and analytical instrumentation, as required.
  • Prepare stock solutions, and keeping shelves and reagent stocked.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current methods and products to be tested.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the client’s Quality System.
  • Perform testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.
  • Identify and escalate issues to clients and management.
  • Prepare written technical reports; learn and use client LIM system
  • Perform basic data analysis as-assigned
  • Assist with training if requested and qualified on the method or process
  • Ability and flexibility to work a rotational schedule if needed to support a 24/7 facility operation
  • Other duties as defined by client sponsor, department needs and workload
