About The Position

The Analyst maintains accounting policies and fiscal controls, prepares financial reports, and safeguards the organization's assets. Ensures compliance with financial transaction recording standards and maintains accounting and financial reports including general ledger, cash payments/collections, financial statements, regulatory and management reports for assigned assets. This position is a plant accounting role, which focuses on Midstream operations along with accounting principles.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a similar degree field and/or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of General Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and relevant legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships and influence at a local level and across a broad organization
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Analytical thinker who can prioritize their time
  • Self-motivated to learn and grow in a challenging industry

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of oil and gas industry experience
  • Experience with Integrated account systems such as SAP, TIPS, Allegro and Aligne

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes accounting reports and schedules for internal (management reporting) and/or external audiences (compliance reporting) while being able to explain all significant variances from estimate.
  • Works proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure of accounting matters and supports the Finance teams to ensure proper accounting and disclosures.
  • Performs basic accounting tasks such as general ledger or the preparation of various accounting statements and reports.
  • Conducts basic monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close functions with all transactions recorded, valued and documented in accordance with US General Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Completes reconciliations accurately and timely ensuring that balances are valid, supportable and match, that ledgers are compliant with relevant standards, and that any outstanding items are followed up and resolved.
  • Assists in the review and evaluation of financial accounting/ administration and internal control processes and procedures with ongoing testing in accordance to Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Accrues transactions on an estimate basis, analyzes actual monthly margins, and compares to business estimates to accurately report true-up results discussed in earnings calls and reported to management.
  • Ensures inventory volumes and values are accurately reported in accordance with the accepted accounting practices and reconcile differences.
  • Learns to identify financial accounting risks and contributes towards developing and implementing mitigating strategies.
  • Exercises judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate solutions to projects of limited scope and complexity ensuring compliance with current federal and/or state accounting related laws and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
