The Analyst - Program Management & Governance at Ally Financial plays a crucial role in enhancing team performance by facilitating Agile/Scrum practices and ensuring that product teams are prepared for their sprints. This position involves guiding teams through the Agile process, managing project tools like Jira, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders to drive project success.

  • Conduct Kanban/Scrum ceremonies tailored to the applicable team/squad.
  • Facilitate the sizing of stories during planning sprints, backlog grooming, or sprint planning sessions.
  • Develop, administer, and manage Jira boards.
  • Maintain productive relationships with business owners, product owners, project sponsors, vendors, and key clients.
  • Establish team-level cadence and drive team-level ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Facilitate working sessions to capture detailed requirements and write user stories.
  • Drive the definition and refinement of the program and team backlogs.
  • Escalate issues to leadership and remove impediments for the team.
  • Maintain metrics that provide visibility to stakeholders on team-level progress and quality.
  • Act as a liaison to assigned program manager and project managers.
  • Manage dependencies between the program team and third parties or other scrum teams.
  • Provide real-time feedback to the methodology team based on experiences with software delivery teams.
  • Communicate scope, goals, milestones, budget, risk, status, change requests, and critical issues to clients and project teams.
  • Use historical and planned velocity to assist the team with commitments.
  • Agile, Scrum certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, SAFe) from an accredited institution preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a project manager or scrum master required; 3+ years preferred.
  • 2+ years leading and administering projects using a tool such as Jira or similar project management systems preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM or related certification strongly preferred).
  • Thorough understanding and experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies on large-scale, technically complex projects.
  • Experience with VersionOne, Teamwork, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to guide teams effectively.
