About the position

The Senior Network Engineer (P2) at Raytheon Digital Technology is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of classified network infrastructure. This role involves the installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of network systems, requiring a solid background in network engineering. The position is based in Andover, MA, and may involve occasional travel to other locations. The engineer will work closely with program engineers and third-party vendors to resolve networking issues and enhance the performance of the technical team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth operation of voice and data networks.
  • Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or reconfiguration of network hardware and software.
  • Develop technical expertise in voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection.
  • Maintain network management software platforms.
  • Propose solutions to management for optimizing communications requirements and cost savings.
  • Prepare and ensure appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions and technical diagrams.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance for planning purposes.
  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment.
  • Design network solutions including hardware and software selection and architecture.
  • Work with program engineers to resolve networking problems in tactical environments.
  • Mentor and train team members to enhance overall performance.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree with 2 years' experience in Network Engineering/Technology roles, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with network management software.
  • Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Knowledge of current cabling and fiber standards.
  • Active US government issued security clearance required prior to start date.
  • Experience with access control lists, security posture, and vendor best practices.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
  • Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, GemOne, and SolarWinds.
  • Certifications in Security+ within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) highly desired within a year.
  • Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
