About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is an open position within the FirstEnergy Finance organization. This role provides budgeting, forecasting, and oversees financial performance for assigned business units. This role serves as a link between Finance and Corporate Business Unit Leadership. This entails, but is not limited to: interpreting financial data to support development of reporting solutions, developing forecasts and serving as the main point of contact for all financial related matters. This position reports to the Manager, Corporate Back Office Support and operates as a financial partner to assigned business units. Preferred location is the FEHQ in Akron, OH, however the position can be located across the FirstEnergy service territory.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in: Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline, with a minimum of 4-7 years professional work experience; advanced degree a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet proficiency including manipulating data, creating and modifying pivot tables, and formatting information to be easily consumed by all levels of employee and management.
  • In-depth understanding of financial statements, profit center accounting, and cash flows
  • Experience working with Qlikview, UIPlanner and SAP
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships
  • Demonstrate growth in use of research techniques
  • Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Time management skills - Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in both an in-person and virtual team environment and willingness to work flexible hours

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to group deliverables including monthly reconciliation and reporting, quarterly budgeting, and long-range strategic planning
  • Provide a high level of customer service, continuous support, and proactive involvement to leadership and peers
  • Conduct ad hoc research, analyze data, interpret results, and assist in implementation activities regarding financial and operational change initiatives, financial reporting
  • Facilitate month-end processing of journals, accruals and amortizations
  • Reconciling accounts and creating master data (orders, WBS’s)
  • Actively seek ways to build challenges and add value within scope of assignments
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the Company and from other business departments
  • Offer ideas and suggestions to improve moderately complex work processes and/or projects
  • Exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments
