About The Position

Work independently with product management, underwriting, marketing, finance, actuarial, IT, risk management, claims, loss control, distribution or other areas on complex, cutting edge analyses and recommendations regarding appropriate courses of actions. Utilizes data science techniques to manipulate large structured and unstructured data sets, identify patterns in raw data, and develop models to predict the likelihood of a future outcome and to optimize business solutions. Applies industry knowledge, develops predictive analytics techniques, and contributes to business strategy using storytelling with data. Applies complex data science techniques. Applies skills and uses analytics and data science techniques to manipulate large structured and unstructured data sets in order to generate insights to inform business decisions. Identifies and tests hypotheses, ensuring statistical significance, as part of building predictive models for business application. Translates quantitative analyses and findings into accessible visuals for non-technical audiences, providing a clear view into interpreting the data. Enables the business to make clear tradeoffs among choices, with a reasonable view into likely outcomes. Assists in customizing analytic solutions to specific client needs. Responsible for large components of projects considered high complexity. Engages with the Data Science community. Participates in cross functional working groups. Position requires domestic travel up to 10% . Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.

Requirements

  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Business Analytics, or Physics or Economics and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in an Analyst II, Data Science-related occupation.
  • Property & Casualty Insurance, specifically underwriting and ratemaking concepts.
  • Core statistical and Machine Learning (ML) techniques with real industry experience in analyzing data and building models, including Generalized Linear Models (GLM), decision trees, random forests, and neutral network.
  • Data extraction and wrangling, Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), variable transformations and feature engineering.
  • Methods in variable selection, model comparisons and validation.
  • Testing of various modeling assumptions, including sensitivity analysis, back-testing with historical data, validation of distributional assumptions, stress testing under extreme scenarios, and out-of-sample performance evaluation.
  • Expertise in analyzing data, building models and generating graphs using statistical programming tools including each of the following in both on-premises and cloud environment: SAS, R, Python, SQL, Jupyter notebook, VScode, and Pycharm.
  • Proven expertise with GitHub version control tool.
  • Experience in Agile Project management methodology.
  • Expertise in MLOps frameworks including MLFlow and Airflow.
  • AWS cloud computing infrastructure.
  • Expertise in Statistical/ML implementation in Python.
