The Analyst II, CAF Accounting role is vital to enabling the business to operate optimally. CarMax didn’t become the nation’s largest used car retailer overnight. It took years of controls, self-regulating, and discipline when it came to managing customer and company funds. The Accounting team plays a critical role in this endeavor. As an Analyst II, you will serve as CarMax Auto Finance’s steadfast resource for all recurring accounting processes, having an intimate expertise with various company financial systems. You’ll support the business by proactively and independently seeking opportunities for improvement – conceptualizing the “big picture” while maintaining keen attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related concentration
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate and/or customer accounting
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting principles and theories; including financial statements, financial systems, payment processing, etc.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; effective and efficient in time and project management
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of associates

Responsibilities

  • Have effective oversight of cyclical accounting processes, including but not limited to: general ledger closing procedures, preparing/recording journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, and compiling financial reporting
  • Develop, update, and maintain complex models to budget, forecast, analyst and report payroll and other loan servicing expenses
  • Implement, maintain, support and enhance financial information system applications
  • Analyze data to identify and interpret trends; make recommendations for improvements to the necessary business areas
  • Serve as an expert resource for Analyst I and Specialist associates within the Accounting department, as well as to other departments, IT, and vendors as needed
  • Drive a simple and seamless, yet effective and efficient, accounting practice
