About The Position
Standby Personnel is seeking an experienced Ammonia Tech to monitor, maintain, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems and plant equipment. This Ammonia Tech role is ideal for a technician with strong refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills. The Ammonia Tech position plays a critical role in plant safety, system performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years industrial refrigeration experience
- Ability to obtain or currently hold R.E.T.A. Certification
- Strong understanding of Process Safety Management
- Electrical knowledge: 480/320v 3ph & 120v
- Skilled with automation controls, testing equipment, and troubleshooting
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and loud environments
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain ammonia and refrigeration systems
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on freezers and equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components
- Document system readings and maintenance activities
- Repair leaks (water, hydraulic, ammonia, nitrogen)
- Follow GMPs, safety standards, and PPE requirements
- Support continuous improvement and plant safety initiatives
