About The Position
The Amigo Man Mascot will perform as a mascot under general supervision, showcasing excellent non-verbal communication skills and maintaining a high level of physical fitness. The ideal candidate will possess a creative and humorous personality, complemented by strong improvisational skills. This role requires a responsible and organized individual who can positively contribute to the front office staff. The mascot will be responsible for developing the character of the City of El Paso's mascot, 'Amigo Man', and will perform at various events as determined by Destination El Paso and the City of El Paso. This includes community appearances for sponsors, charities, media, and private functions. The mascot will also be responsible for the care, cleaning, and maintenance of the mascot costume, ensuring it is in good condition for all events. In addition to performing, the mascot will work closely with the Tourism and Convention Development departments to support necessary promotions. The role involves creating goodwill within the community, scheduling and organizing outside community appearances, and developing a character branding program. The mascot may also be assigned additional tasks at the discretion of the Director. Candidates must be able to endure extreme heat conditions, possess their own transportation with a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance, and have basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office Tools. The position requires strong organizational skills, flexibility to meet various demands, and the ability to analyze and interpret social expressions and client needs related to the mascot. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with all levels within the organization, and the ability to troubleshoot situations promptly is necessary. The mascot must perform duties in a manner that aligns with Destination El Paso standards, be able to lift approximately 50 lbs, and be available to work flexible hours, including days, nights, holidays, and weekends. The candidate should be fan-friendly, outgoing, and able to work well with children and other staff members at events. Additionally, the mascot must be a good representative of Destination El Paso and the brand, with the ability to travel outside of El Paso.
