About The Position

Salt Lake County Most Vulnerable Populations Service/Internship Positions Are you looking to make a difference in your community? Salt Lake County's Most Vulnerable Populations AmeriCorps Program focuses on reducing systematic inequities in housing stability. AmeriCorps Members help bridge the gap and reduce barriers for a variety of vulnerable populations including but not limited to; youth, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those involved in the Criminal Justice System. AmeriCorps Members are placed in community agencies to serve individuals and families by assisting in activities such as housing placement, job placement, system navigation, healthcare liaisons, volunteer recruitment, and more. What is AmeriCorps AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors by engaging adults in public service work, with a goal of helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. "The program is often seen as the domestic Peace Corps.” Members commit to a 12 month part time (675 to 900 Hrs.) service/internship position. Location (Sub-sites) Members are placed throughout the community in a network of nonprofit community organizations and public agencies, to fulfill assignments in reducing barriers for vulnerable populations. For the 2026 program year we are partnered with the following agencies: Salt Lake City Public Library, The INN Between, Utah Health Policy Project, International Rescue Committee, Housing Connect, Ruff Haven Crisis Sheltering, Clean Slate Utah, Granite School District, The Family Support Center, Columbus Community Center, Alliance, Salt Lake County Coordinated Entry, Peace House. All positions are direct service, remote work is not available. Members will serve under the direction of case management teams, program directors, and other direct staff. TRAINING Members will participate in agency training activities to increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities for delivering client services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must pass an FBI Criminal Background Check Must be 18 years of age or older High School Diploma or GED. Some or College degree in social services, health access, or criminal justice a plus! Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Able to operate standard office equipment. Requirements

  • Must pass an FBI Criminal Background Check
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment.
