About The Position

Role Summary: The Americas Labor and Employee Relations Leader drives GE Vernova labor and employee relations strategy in support of the businesses’ priorities focusing on North and South America. This role is part of the GE Vernova Labor and Employee Relations Community of Expertise and reports to the Vice President, Global Labor and Employee Relations. The successful candidate will have significant collective bargaining experience and a proven record of developing and executing successful negotiation strategies. The role is responsible for maintaining productive relationships with the unions that represent GE Vernova employees in the U.S. and provides advice and counsel to the Segment HR teams who own labor relations throughout the Americas. The role is also responsible for GE Vernova’s positive employee relations strategies, serving as a key resource to the Segment HR teams and business and operations leaders, providing proactive solutions and delivering best-in-class employee relations programs and trainings and sharing best practices. The role will also serve as an advisor to Segment HR and business and operations leaders on business change and restructuring initiatives to maintain positive labor and employee relations and mitigate risk. This role will be a key focal to, and will liaise with, the Segment HR teams and Vernova HQ HR, People Operations, Labor and Employment Counsel, Communications and other Global Functions to deliver high-quality, value-add labor and employee relations programs and projects.

Requirements

  • Masters degree or similar equivalent of knowledge/experience in labor or industrial relations.
  • Significant experience with demonstrated performance and success in labor and employee relations leadership roles
  • Significant collective bargaining experience, including serving as lead negotiator and leading negotiations teams, with demonstrated record of success
  • Experience developing and executing strategies in response to representations proceedings
  • Experience in working with and understanding of labor laws, rules, regulations and practices
  • Must be able to travel ~35%+/- of the time
  • Role can be based in Cambridge Atlanta, Schenectady, Greenville or remote in the Eastern Time Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership and overall direction to the Americas labor and employee relations strategies for GE Vernova
  • Develop strong partnership with GE Vernova HR leaders and operations management leaders to support management of employees’ representatives in an effective manner avoiding disruptions to the business and minimizing any limits to management flexibility
  • Manage the relationship with the unions that represent GE Vernova’s employees in the U.S.
  • Support key negotiation preparation and act as a non-participant advisor to local collective negotiations and bargain directly as required
  • Propose strategies for Americas employee relations and measure effectiveness in terms of impact on goals, monitor and adjust as appropriate
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of HR and ER partners offering guidance and best practices to ensure alignment to L&ER COE principles and standards
  • Report to senior management on the status of employee and labor relations initiatives
  • Facilitate alignment across key stakeholder groups (business and functional) to enable a shared approach of priorities and objectives
  • Liaise and / or develop effective and efficient communications in partnership with stakeholders to drive awareness and/or activation to meet labor and employee relations objectives
  • Act as focal for all aspects related to labor and/or local labor representatives advising management on labor issues in the region and risk management and providing labor expertise in potential acquisition and divestiture projects.
  • Build organizational capability in labor and employee relations in GE Vernova, including training/education as well as tool and processes to share best practices
