About The Position

The Senior Director, Americas Controller will oversee all Americas accounting functions and lead process transformation efforts to support Ripple’s rapid growth. This includes driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and developing a high-performing team. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional leaders to align accounting with broader business goals, while implementing scalable systems and controls to ensure speed, accuracy, and compliance. You will be expected to translate accounting needs into systems requirements and integration plans, and proactively engage in upstream product and revenue discussions, ensuring accounting is embedded early in business and system design. You will also collaborate with regional controllers to lead process redesign and standardization across global accounting functions!

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA (active or inactive) required.
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven success leading large, diverse accounting teams and ability to inspire and coach a team through shifts from manual execution to automated, analytical work
  • Experiences in operational and GL accounting and proven ability to effectively own a tier 1 ERP such as Oracle Fusion
  • Experience leading cross-functional process transformation and standardization efforts
  • Comfortable participating in product and revenue discussions with an eye toward financial systems and controls
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, especially as it applies to broker/dealer transactions, crypto accounting, and consolidation
  • Experience with FINRA, SEC, and other broker/dealer reporting requirements
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion ERP to optimize and automate accounting processes
  • Expertise in multi-entity consolidations and high-volume reconciliations
  • Prior experience in a regulated financial services or fintech company strongly preferred
  • Strategic problem solver with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly convey complex financial topics to technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow the Americas accounting team (corporate, crypto, broker/dealer, and consolidations). Build a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Accounting Operations Oversight: Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accurate and timely transaction recording, reconciliations, and close processes. Manage and optimize partnerships with managed services providers.
  • Process Optimization & Automation: Leverage Oracle Fusion ERP to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and shorten the close cycle. Drive automation across accounting processes for scalability.Translate accounting needs into systems requirements and lead the integration of those requirements into scalable workflows.
  • Process Redesign & Global Standardization: Lead process redesign and standardization across Americas accounting functions, working closely with international regional controllers to drive consistency and operational efficiency globally.
  • Broker/Dealer & Trading Activity: Ensure timely and accurate accounting for broker/dealer activities, including OTC and crypto/fiat trading, in compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Strategic Process Design: Define and implement best-in-class accounting processes and systems to support scale and ensure regulatory readiness. Contribute strategic insights during business model and product discussions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with FP&A, Tax, Product, Legal, and Finance Systems teams to align accounting strategies with business initiatives. Participate early in business planning to ensure financial implications and accounting needs are fully considered.
  • Crypto Industry Expertise: Navigate the unique accounting and regulatory landscape of crypto assets, helping to ensure compliance and innovation coexist.
  • Close Transformation: Continuously improve the month-end and year-end close cycles, balancing speed, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:Ensure robust internal controls and readiness for external audits. Manage relationships with auditors and regulatory stakeholders.
