About The Position

Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring to students in reading, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. Assist students with homework assignments related to literacy. Engage students in reading activities, games, and discussions to make learning enjoyable. Support the classroom teacher or program staff in creating a positive learning environment. Maintain accurate records of student progress and tutoring sessions. Communicate regularly with the site supervisor regarding student needs and progress. Adhere to all site-specific policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines. Participate in required training sessions related to literacy instruction and child development. Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be an undergraduate student awarded Federal Work-Study funds through FAFSA.
• Must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (half-time) during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen ..
• No outstanding institutional balances or registration blocks.
• Must have reliable transportation to off-campus worksites (if applicable).
• Completion of required Dallas College professional development training.
• Must be an enrolled student eligible for Federal Work-Study funding.
• Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with children and youth.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass required background checks as mandated by the host organization.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
