AMER DCCD Principal Manager, Data Center Capacity Delivery

AmazonHerndon, VA
$178,800 - $241,900Onsite

About The Position

You will manage a small team of technical subject matter experts across Construction, Controls, Commissioning and Critical Projects who define and develop large-scale technical strategies for data center capacity delivery across North and South America. Leading one of the largest infrastructure portfolios in AWS across ~30 commercial and government clusters —you are at the forefront of AWS's expansion strategy. Your team tackles ambiguous problems with complete independence, distilling diverse inputs from customers and stakeholders to set vision and design long-term solutions. You will define a practical operating model that allows your team to influence earlier and collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines. You will guide your team to solve complex, systemic problems that span multiple technical disciplines by delivering innovative technical and commercial solutions —including technical papers, product feedback, vendor agreements, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) —that scale across infrastructure and partner teams. Your team serves as subject matter experts who identify root causes of business-critical technical issues, formulate strategies, and present solutions to both technical and non-technical leadership through Operating Plan reviews and strategy documents. You will lead your team to create scalable mechanisms and best practices that multiply impact across the organization, serving as the primary escalation point for critical technical and business decisions. You evaluate proposals and deals on their technical and commercial merit, making trade-off decisions between short-term and long-term priorities. You will mentor and develop team members, provide promotion assessments within and outside your organization, and participate in hiring to raise the bar for technical skillset and cross-team leadership abilities.
