About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking an Ambulatory Technologist to assist providers during exams and perform a variety of clinical tasks in support of patient care in outpatient clinics. This role involves technical, procedural, and information systems tasks that affect the comfort, care, and safety of patients. The position is located at 699 S Main St, Canandaigua, New York, and is a full-time role with scheduled weekly hours of 40. The compensation range for this position is $18.71 - $25.27 per hour, depending on various factors including market data, education, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a customer-focused/service setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures preferred.
  • Computer experience preferred.

  • Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers during exams and perform clinical tasks in outpatient clinics.
  • Apply clinical knowledge while assisting the provider during exams.
  • Attach patients to diagnostic and medical equipment.
  • Provide information, comfort, and care to patients during exams.
  • Ensure the correct number and type of supplies are available in each exam room.
  • Responsible for efficient room utilization and minimizing patient wait time.
  • Escort patients from the waiting area to exam areas and obtain vital signs.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and specimen collection per provider order.
  • Enter patient data into the electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain adequacy of clinical equipment and medical supply levels.
  • Implement standard infection prevention measures.
  • Precept new Ambulatory Technologists with RN oversight.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned, including scheduling and registration.
  • Assist providers with patient processes during surgical procedures.
  • Prepare room and instrumentation for procedures.
  • Check and calibrate equipment according to protocol.
  • Prepare specimens in appropriate preservative medium and label correctly.
