Lorain Family Health & Surgery Center’s Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) offers advanced outpatient surgery that allows patients to return home soon after their procedure without the need for overnight stays. This is a part-time role. A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 3:30pm or 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year of clinical experience as an RN in a perioperative or critical care setting OR three years as a Surgical Technician
  • Circulating experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross or willing to obtain within six months of hire
  • If caring for a pediatric population: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Prior ambulatory RN experience
  • Scrub experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical nursing in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
  • Assess patient care needs, plan the delivery of care and process patients through the ASC
  • Direct other caregivers in providing patient care
  • Assume charge responsibilities, resolve problems and report variances
  • Develop educational materials and provide health education to patients and families
  • Maintain nursing competencies
  • Participate in preparing staff development programs
  • Identify self-learning needs, establish goals and evaluate attainment of goals
  • Demonstrate respect for the cultural and social differences that exist among people
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and caregivers
  • Demonstrate a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace and contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere
