About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Ambulatory RN Supervisor to lead and support our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) clinics at IU North and Riley Hospital. This leadership role involves overseeing nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based care, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards. The supervisor will support RNs and Medical Assistants with a focus on Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, and outpatient maternal care, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Two years experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Labor & Delivery, or antepartum care.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Prior charge nurse or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to RNs and Medical Assistants within the Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics.
  • Support and oversee clinical care delivery, ensuring adherence to best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules, resource allocation, and workflow to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical problem-solving, staff development, and workflow improvements.
  • Manage supply ordering, inventory, and conduct audits to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate MFM pre-procedure preparation, patient education, and ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Support and promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement aligned with IU Health’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Assist with personnel management, performance evaluations, and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including adherence to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics.
